HEERA’s Aim
HEERA’s aim is to advance and assist in the advancement of education for the public benefit in universities and other higher education institutions (the institutions). In particular, but without prejudice to the generality of the foregoing, by providing and maintaining an organisation to offer training, advice and support to those members of the institutions involved in marketing, public and media relations, alumni relations, fundraising and development and other external relations in such a way as is designed to promote the efficient and effective running of the institutions.
What does HEERA offer?
A key benefit of HEERA membership is the access members gain to a network of colleagues performing similar roles in HE External relations. Members have the opportunity to share experience and information about current issues and trends, gain early insight into emerging strategic topics and influence their direction. We facilitate this by organising:
- Sector specific training and events
- Networking events
- Maintain a directory of External Relations contacts
- E-mail discussion list
- Working/interest groups in partnership with relevant bodies
What does HEERA do?
HEERA is the professional association for External Relations professionals working within higher education in the UK. It exists to promote opportunities, encourage training and share knowledge among its members.
How is HEERA organised?
HEERA is a private limited company with a volunteer committee. The committee take responsibility for the activities of the Association including raising the profile of the association, organising events, coordinating the HEERA directory. It also drives forward the Association’s strategy through consultation with its members.
How does HEERA promote itself and its members?
HEERA promotes itself through its web pages, its membership list and an email network. The first point of call for members should be the new web site which will include the latest information about the Association.
